Twój Głos: The Board of Sęp Żelechów Resigns

After less than two years in office, the board of Sęp Żelechów has submitted its resignation. On Saturday, January 17, an extraordinary general meeting with elections will be held.

The decision of the Sęp Żelechów board to step down has surprised the local sports community. The club authorities, elected on March 27, 2024 and expected to run the club until 2028, decided to end their term early. This has raised many questions about the future of one of the city’s most important clubs.

The board, consisting of President Grzegorz Kapczyński and members Grzegorz Gardziński, Mariusz Kapczyński, Rafał Krzeski, Szymon Słyk, and Albert Stodulski, took over the club at a difficult time. This required not only sporting plans but also strong social commitment. As the editorial team has unofficially learned, the reason for the resignation was reportedly difficult cooperation with the city authorities.

The outgoing board emphasizes that the decision was not an escape from responsibility. On the contrary, it was meant to serve the best interests of the club. Handing over the reins to new people may, in the board’s opinion, open the way to better cooperation, stability, and further development of Sęp.

Sęp Żelechów is not only a senior football team competing in the Siedlce district league. The club also runs six children’s and youth teams that regularly compete in Siedlce and regional leagues. Another great source of pride are four dynamically operating girls’ volleyball sections - among the strongest in the county and the southern part of the voivodeship.

The future of the club will be decided at the extraordinary general meeting with elections, which will take place on Saturday, January 17, at Sęp’s headquarters at 96 Chłopickiego Street. The first session is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., the second for 6:15 p.m. It is then that it will become clear whether there are people ready to take responsibility for the further fate of Sęp Żelechów.
