MKS Małkinia - Sęp: victory slipped away in the last minutes and a 2:2 draw
For today's match, Sęp entered without three main players, namely Albert Bożek, Paweł Michalik, and Michał Jaworski. Despite this weakening, the team performed well, although it was not able to avoid mistakes.
In the first half of the match, Sęp dominated and created significantly more dangerous opportunities. After one of them, the ball reached Damian Grzyb, who was positioned in the penalty area. He managed to beat Dominik Sekuła - albeit in installments - who saved the initial shot but was helpless against the follow-up. In the final minutes of this half, the Żelechów team should have already been leading by two goals, but Albert Stodulski failed to take advantage of an excellent situation. The action was initiated on the right wing by Szymon Słyk. The ball was passed to Stodulski, who was positioned on the 5-meter line, but he unfortunately lacked precision and shot so that Sekuła was able to save it. The MKS team, on the other hand, tried to strike from distance and seek their chances in crosses into the penalty area of Sęp, but they did not create any good opportunities to score.
Złotkowski Wiktor 86'
58' Gałkowski Jakub
The second half started rather unlucky for Sęp. In the 52nd minute, Sebastian Szewczak illegally stopped an opponent in his own penalty area, resulting in a penalty kick awarded to the hosts, which was converted into a goal by Adam Najgrodzki moments later, making it 1:1. Despite conceding a goal, the Żelechów players continued to attack, and over time, this brought the desired results. After one of the actions, Albert Stodulski passed the ball to Kuba Gałkowski, who moments later directed it into an empty goal, and Sęp took the lead again, this time 2:1. In the subsequent minutes, Albert Stodulski once again missed an excellent chance to score when his shot first hit Sekuła, and then the follow-up hit the post. The missed opportunities came back to haunt in the 89th minute when our defense tried to trap Wiktor Złotkowski offside, who was passed a straight ball from the middle of the field. Złotkowski, however, was not offside, and moments later, his accurate shot made it a 2:2 draw.
Ultimately, the entire match ended in a 2:2 draw. However, there remains a significant sense of disappointment because Sęp played a good game, led twice, but was unable to maintain the goal advantage until the final whistle. Our goalkeeper, Patryk Seroczyński, presented himself very well today, making confident interventions in many situations.
