Zryw Sobolew vs Sęp: 2 goals conceded in 180 seconds resulted in a 1:2 defeat

Marcin Sągol

In the match of the 4th round, our team couldn't break the streak of matches without a win, and after a fairly even battle, we lost in the district derby of Garwolin 1:2 to Zryw Sobolew. Just two mistakes made in defense within two minutes were ruthlessly exploited by our opponents to score goals. In the last 10 minutes, Sęp played with one more player, but it only led to one goal, scored by Michał Jaworski.

Today's match wasn't exactly a grand spectacle. The game was mainly played in the midfield, and it was evident that both sides played cautiously, trying not to concede an early goal. Sęp tried to attack methodically, while Zryw mainly focused on quick counterattacks, initiated by longer passes from their half. These brought the hosts several shooting opportunities, and Marcin Cieśl's charges took more shots in the goalless first half, which were more threatening than those by the team from Żelechów. On the visitor's side, Kuba Gałkowski's attempts stood out.

The second half was similar to the first, but Sęp had a disastrous 180 seconds which, as it turned out, decided the fate of the match. In the 72nd minute, the team from Sobolew took the lead. The action was started by Zryw's goalkeeper, who kicked the ball from his penalty box. It was headed to Przemysław Komar, the furthest forward, who sprinted down the right side into Sęp's penalty box and beat the advancing goalkeeper, Patryk Seroczyński, with a shot from 14 meters. Moments after the restart from the midfield, Sęp lost the ball. The hosts took advantage, specifically again the sprinting Komar (this time from the left side), to whom Michał Wiśnioch crossed the ball from the other side. Komar controlled the ball and shot from a tight angle towards the "far post". Seroczyński couldn't react in time, and it was already 2:0.

Sęp tried to make up for the deficit. Kuba Gałkowski, Paweł Mazurek, and Albert Stodulski took their chances, but the ball just didn't want to find its way into the opponent's net. Indeed, at one point a goal was scored, but it was disallowed because the linesman flagged for offside. One of the pivotal moments of the match came in the 80th minute when Przemysław Komar, the scorer of both goals for Zryw, received his second yellow card of the day, resulting in a red. Playing with a one-man advantage, Sęp started to dominate on the pitch. In the 83rd minute, after a methodical attack, Michał Jaworski accurately shot from distance, reducing Zryw's lead to just one goal. Unfortunately, they couldn't manage to equalize.

The loss was a pity because Sęp played a reasonably good game, and if not for those disastrous 2 minutes when we conceded 2 goals, the match could have turned out very differently.
