Sęp vs. Czarni Węgrów: 5 Goals for Węgrów, Comeback, and a 3:3 Draw
The beginning of the match against Czarni did not go as planned. In the 3rd minute, we conceded a goal when we tried to stop an attack from the visitors in front of our own goal. Hubert Król attempted to clear the ball but misfired, sending it past our defensive line. Radosław Replin quickly charged from the center and powerfully slid the ball into Mateusz Bryl's goal. An even bigger defensive mistake occurred in the 15th minute. Bartek Kocon managed to make a through pass from about 40 meters, which went through four Sęp players in the midfield and reached Radosław Replin. He controlled it just outside the penalty area and accurately struck with his left foot, scoring the second goal for Węgrów near the left post.
This time, Sęp responded quickly, and just two minutes later, they executed a successful attack, scoring a contact goal to make it 1:2. The ball quickly moved from Damian Grzyb to Michał Licbarski, and then to Sebastian Wdowiak, who was charging into the visitors' penalty area from the right. Our defender controlled the ball and, without hesitation, took a shot. The ball hit the far post and ended up in the net.
Sęp dominated the first half, creating more chances. Unfortunately, accuracy in decisive passes was lacking, and we struggled to find an effective way to finish our chances in the Węgrów penalty area. Meanwhile, the visitors capitalized on another defensive error in the 42nd minute. Kocon, with a pass from the middle of his own half, set Damian Wysocki in motion, who sprinted from his own half towards the ball. Despite attempts by two of our defenders to stop him, Wysocki managed to get the ball to the edge of the penalty area on the right side and took a shot. The ball, heading towards the goal just inside the far post, was out of reach for Mateusz Bryl, who tried to intervene, and we unexpectedly found ourselves down 1:3. The first half ended with this score, although Sęp scored another goal just before the break, but it was disallowed as Damian Grzyb was in an offside position.
14' Replin Radosław
42' Wysocki Damian
56' Sakowski Michał (s)
60' Sakowski Michał (s)
In the second half, except for the initial and final minutes, Sęp completely dominated Czarni and was clearly the better side. This quickly translated into goals, although they were not scored by our players. In the 56th minute, after one of Sęp's attacks, Michał Sakowski tried to clear a ball heading towards Czarni's goal but did so unsuccessfully, hitting the post. The ball bounced off, hit his hand, and crossed the goal line. Although Sakowski cleared it afterward, the referee, Daniel Jastrzębski, had no doubts that the goal stood, making it 2:3.
In the 60th minute, another offensive action by Sęp ended with a shot from the right side of the penalty area by Szymon Kowalski. The visitors' goalkeeper could not cleanly save the shot. The ball deflected off his leg and hit Michał Sakowski, who was retreating towards his own goal, and ended up in the net, making it 3:3.
Sęp created several more excellent chances, after which we could, and even should, have scored more goals. Unfortunately, we couldn't capitalize on them (not counting one goal that was disallowed again for offside). Ultimately, we managed to secure just one point, which we can be satisfied with only if we consider the first half in isolation. The significantly better second half leaves a sense of missed opportunity.
