Sęp vs. Promnik Gończyce: 3:0 Win in the Derby, Visitors Receive Red Card

The first May derby of the Garwoliński county has concluded. After an exciting and dynamic match, our team defeated Promnik Gończyce 3:0. Michał Licbarski provided the lead towards the end of the first half, with Albert Stodulski and Damian Grzyb adding to the score after the break. Promnik finished the match with ten men after Arek Kot was sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct.

In the first half, there was a lot of midfield battle. Sęp maintained more possession, but Promnik was slightly more threatening, attempting shots from distance and from free kicks. Mateusz Bryl performed well in goal for Żelechów, saving his team three times from conceding throughout the match. The first goal wasn't scored until the 41st minute when Kuba Gałkowski took a seemingly harmless shot from the right corner of the penalty area towards the near post. The goalkeeper Salamończyk tried to catch it, but the ball deflected off him and reached Michał Licbarski, who confidently beat the Promnik goalkeeper by shooting between his legs.

In the second half, there were more opportunities on both sides. Promnik nearly equalized early on. Kamil Kosmala, who came on after the break, had a chance to score. He lobbed Mateusz Bryl, who had come out to intercept, but the ball was headed towards goal only to be cleared off the line by Albert Bożek in the nick of time, saving Sęp from a goal.

The missed opportunity soon backfired on the guests. Moments later, Sęp launched an attack down the right wing. Kuba Gałkowski crossed the ball along the sixteen-meter line. It reached Szymon Słyk, who drew the attention of three players from Gończyce. This allowed Albert Stodulski to sneak behind them, and soon after, he received a through pass from Słyk and sent the ball into the opponents' net without much trouble, increasing Sęp’s lead to 2:0. The final score was set in the 59th minute when Damian Grzyb showcased a flat and precise long-range shot, sending the ball just past the right post into Promnik’s goal.

Sęp deservedly won 3:0, and undoubtedly, the entire team contributed significantly to achieving this favorable result. Mateusz Bryl’s interventions also deserve recognition, as they largely helped us not concede any goals today.

Promnik finished the match short-handed after Arek Kot received a red card in the 83rd minute for unsportsmanlike conduct (a foul on Szymon Słyk).
