Sęp - Płomień Dębe Wielkie: 1-3 Loss After a Close Match in the Season Opener

The result of today's match certainly does not reflect the course of the game. For most of the time, the match was quite even, although in the second half, there were moments when Sęp was the more active and dangerous side. The goals for Płomień did not come from combination play but rather from quick counterattacks, during which our defense made mistakes. In the 34th minute, Mateusz Malesa gave the visitors a one-goal lead, striking from the edge of the penalty area. Just moments earlier, he had received a long pass from Tymon Szymański and, despite the presence of two of our defenders, managed to take a successful shot.

After the break, Sęp managed to equalize at 1-1. Our players executed an attack down the left wing, which ended with quick combination play in the opponent's penalty area and a pass to Maksymilian Dębowski, who confidently sent the ball into Płomień's net. It is worth noting that Maksymilian had entered the field just 2 minutes earlier, replacing Paweł Mazurek. It was also his first goal for the senior team in league competition!

However, the joy of the equalizer did not last long. Just moments after the game resumed, the visitors quickly penetrated our penalty area, where Mateusz Bryl, in an attempt to intervene, fouled an opponent, resulting in a penalty being awarded to the visitors. Mateusz Malesa converted the penalty to make it 1-2.

As time passed, our team began to attack more boldly and created several good scoring opportunities. Unfortunately, none of them were converted into goals. Ultimately, in the fourth minute of added time (a total of 5 minutes were added), Płomień's team once again managed to launch a quick counterattack, leading to a third goal by Marcin Przewłocki.

It's a pity about today's loss because it's fair to say that we were an equal opponent to Płomień. If not for our defensive mistakes, we certainly could have fought for at least one point. However, it's encouraging to see that the young players who have joined the senior team are performing very well.
