Sęp vs Orzeł Unin: 3-1 Victory in the Second Garwolin County Derby of the Autumn Round

Marcin Sągol

In the second derby match our team played this round, we secured a 3-1 victory, defeating Orzeł Unin at home. The match started disastrously for us, as we conceded a goal to go 0-1 down within the first few minutes. Despite having a man advantage from the 12th minute, we struggled for a long time to equalize, and overall, our performance today was quite poor.

Derbies usually have their own rules, with both sides doing everything they can to come out on top. Unfortunately, Sęp had a dreadful start today. In the 6th minute, we allowed Jakub Kowalski to score, giving Orzeł a one-goal lead. The visitors could have extended their lead, but they missed another excellent chance. From the 12th minute, Sęp played with a man advantage after Michał Rękawek was shown a red card for a foul on Kuba Gałkowski, who was through on goal. However, this advantage was barely noticeable on the field. The team from Żelechów played very imprecisely, and for much of the game, the side led by coach Rafał Głąbicki was the more threatening. Sęp managed to equalize only in the 45th minute when Mikołaj Głodek latched onto a through ball from Paweł Mazurek, ran into the penalty area, and slotted the ball into the net from six meters.

In the second half, the flow of the game didn’t change much. Orzeł fought a tough, even battle with Sęp, occasionally creating good scoring chances. If not for the excellent performance of goalkeeper Dominik Kowalski, the visitors might have regained the lead. The Żelechów players' game continued to suffer from inaccuracies and frequent turnovers. The situation on the pitch only changed in the final minutes when Sęp took control. In the 85th minute, a corner kick delivered by Mikołaj Głodek found Szymon Kowalski, who sent the ball into the net with his shoulder, giving Sęp a 2-1 lead. Two minutes later, after a well-worked move, Kowalski had another chance to score a second goal, but his header was saved by the Unin goalkeeper. However, Mikołaj Głodek was quick to react to the rebound, and his follow-up made it 3-1, sealing the derby victory for Sęp.
