Płomień Dębe Wielkie - Sęp: Dębowski's Goal Not Enough, 2:1 Defeat

Marcin Sągol

Our team kicked off the spring round of the 2024/25 season in the Siedlce district league today with an away match against Płomień Dębe Wielkie. The first half ended in a goalless draw, while three goals were scored in the second half. Unfortunately, only one of them was in our favor. Sęp finished the match with ten men after Michał Licbarski was shown a red card.

In the first half of Sunday’s match, the home team had the upper hand, creating two excellent scoring opportunities. The first chance was wasted due to a lack of accuracy, while the second was denied by a great save from Dominik Kowalski. Ultimately, both teams went into the break with the score locked at 0:0.

After the restart, Sęp unfortunately made two crucial mistakes, which led to conceding goals. In the 51st minute, a misplaced pass by our defender resulted in a precise shot from Aleksander Piotrowski, giving Płomień a 1:0 lead. In the 60th minute, Piotr Czajka doubled the advantage, finishing off a counterattack. This came after our players lost the ball near the opponent’s penalty area and were unable to stop the fast break.

The game dynamic shifted in the 63rd minute when Dawid Brzeziński was sent off after receiving a red card for arguing with the referee. With a numerical advantage, Sęp began to take control of the match. Maksymilian Dębowski came close to scoring a crucial goal, but his shot struck the crossbar. However, our striker made no mistake in the 70th minute. After an attacking move down the right wing by Słyk and a cross from the byline, Szymon Kryczka took a shot, which was saved by Matejak. Dębowski capitalized on the rebound, slotting the ball into the net to make it 2:1.

In the final moments of the game, Kuba Gałkowski missed two great opportunities to equalize. In the first, his shot went off target, and in the second, instead of shooting, he opted to pass to a teammate, but the action ended unsuccessfully. In stoppage time, Mikołaj Głodek attempted a direct free-kick on goal, but his shot was saved.
