ULKS Gołąbek - Sęp: 3 red cards, numerical advantage, and a 3:5 defeat

We haven't had much luck against the team from Gołąbek in recent seasons. In today's Matchday 28 fixture, despite conceding a goal as early as the 11th minute, we managed to take a 2:1 lead and, importantly, played with a one-man advantage from the 16th minute. Unfortunately, even though it seemed like everything was working in our favor, we ultimately lost 3:5.

The way this match unfolded in Gołąbek will certainly puzzle and intrigue many fans. The hosts started better and took a 1:0 lead in the 11th minute thanks to a goal from Jakub Ejsymont. However, from the 16th minute, Gołąbek had to play with ten men after Roman Bilinskyi was shown a red card. Sęp took advantage: first, Hubert Król equalized with a beautiful free-kick, and then, in the 28th minute, Maksymilian Dębowski completed a well-executed move to give us a 2:1 lead. Unfortunately, our lead lasted only a minute... Jakub Pawlik quickly brought the hosts level, and just three minutes later, Albert Ziółkowski made it 3:2 for Gołąbek.

The second half turned out to be even more surprising. Despite having a numerical advantage, Sęp conceded a fourth goal in the 58th minute – once again Jakub Pawlik found the net. In the 67th minute, Albert Ziółkowski received a second yellow card and was sent off, leaving Gołąbek with only nine men. From that moment, Sęp had a two-man advantage – 11 vs. 9! Even so, we conceded a fifth goal in the 73rd minute, scored by Kacper Pawlik. Just moments later, Szymon Kowalki was sent off after receiving a second yellow card, reducing our numerical advantage. Interestingly, Sęp – now down to ten men – managed to score a consolation goal through Sebastian Wdowiak five minutes from time, making it 5:3.

We ended the match with a 3:5 loss, and it’s really hard to explain how, despite having a numerical advantage for most of the game – and even two players more at one point – we were unable to secure even a draw…
