Zryw Sobolew – Sęp: 5–2 victory in the 2025/26 season opener

Marcin Sągol

Today’s county derby against Zryw Sobolew turned out to be a very unusual match. The scoring was opened in the 14th minute after a bizarre mistake by the home team’s goalkeeper. Zryw then netted two goals, one of them from the penalty spot. For part of the second half, our team played with a two-man advantage after Zryw had two players sent off – one for unsporting behavior and the other after receiving a second yellow card. In the end, we came away with a 5–2 win, although the scoreline does not fully reflect the course of the match.

The derby was played in rather high temperatures (reaching 30°C), which affected both teams’ performance – the game was not particularly dynamic. In the opening minutes, the home side looked slightly more dangerous, but it was Sęp who took the lead in the 14th minute when goalkeeper Kamil Fic mishandled the ball and sent it into his own net. Zryw equalized in the 27th minute when Mateusz Kiliszek broke into Sęp’s penalty area and beat Dominik Kowalski with a precise shot. For most of the first half, the match was evenly balanced, and the goals came mainly from individual mistakes. In the 43rd minute, Damian Kulik tried his luck from distance, and the ball struck the hand of Krystian Dadas inside the penalty area. Referee Rafał Kaim awarded Zryw a penalty, which Mateusz Kiliszek confidently converted to make it 2–1. That was the score at half-time.

The second half began well for Sęp, who looked a bit more active. In the 60th minute, Krystian Dadas connected with a free-kick delivery, heading the ball past Fic to make it 2–2. In the 66th minute, Zryw went a man down when Filip Kwaśniak was shown a red card for unsporting conduct. Sęp quickly took advantage, and in the 70th minute, Łukasz Gendek, after receiving a pass from Dębowski, broke into the box and slotted the ball into the net. A few minutes later, Sęp’s play became a bit shaky, leading to two dangerous defensive errors – fortunately, they didn’t result in conceding a goal. In the 81st minute, Zryw lost another player when Michał Kazimierak received a second yellow and was sent off.

The score was settled in stoppage time. First, Maksymilian Dębowski scored Sęp’s fourth goal, and shortly after, Franciszek Błachnio put the ball into his own net. In the end, Zryw fell 2–5 to our side.
