Podlasie II Sokołów Podlaski vs Sęp: 1–3 Defeat to Close the Autumn Round, First Goal of the Season for Szymon Kowalski

In today’s match, the more active side looking to control the game were the hosts. The team from Sokołów Podlaski kept the ball for longer periods, trying to build positional attacks. Sęp dropped slightly deeper into defence, focusing mainly on counterattacks. From time to time, however, our players attempted to press the opponent in the middle third of the pitch, and after one such action we managed to take a 1–0 lead. The goal was scored by Szymon Kowalski – his first of the season. Unfortunately, before halftime the hosts equalised with a quick counterattack launched after our team’s corner kick. Mateusz Bryl was beaten by Aleksander Jezierski.

The second half unfolded in a similar way to the first. Podlasie II took a 2–1 lead when, after a cross to the far post, Aleksander Jezierski headed the ball into Mateusz Bryl’s net. We could have equalised later on, but in a very good scoring opportunity Szymon Kowalski was unlucky to hit only the post. Eventually, the Sokołów side punished us with another effective counterattack, finished by Przemysław Jaczewski to make it 3–1, which also became the final score.

We end the first half of the season in 9th place with a total of 21 points (6 wins, 3 draws, 6 defeats). This season’s league is extremely competitive, with only a few points separating the teams placed 2nd to 11th. This promises plenty of excitement in the spring, when all teams return to league action after the winter break.
