Watra Mrozy 3:3 Sęp Żelechów – a hard-fought draw after an exchange of blows, Głodek scores his 10th goal of the season

Marcin Sągol

In the away match of the 13th round, our team faced Watra Mrozy. Both sides struggled to maintain a lead for long — whenever one team scored, the other responded within minutes to level the score. The game eventually ended in a 3–3 draw and a fair share of points.

Today’s match was played on a difficult pitch – the wet surface after rainfall made it hard for both teams to play clean football, and at times the game was marked by a fair bit of randomness. The match started well for Sęp. In the 11th minute, we took the lead. From a corner kick, Mikołaj Głodek crossed the ball into the box. It was headed away by a Watra defender but fell behind the penalty area, where the unmarked Szymon Słyk collected it, controlled it, and sent a fine strike from 18 meters into the bottom-right corner of Stelmaszczyk’s goal.

Unfortunately, our lead lasted less than five minutes. Restarting from the back, Sęp made a costly mistake and lost possession. The ball went to Karol Krzyżanowski in midfield, who played a perfect through pass to Adrian Ryszkowicz running into our penalty area. While challenging for the ball, Michał Zowczak made contact, and Ryszkowicz went down. Referee Tomasz Ołowski pointed to the spot in what seemed a rather questionable decision. Hubert Kornet converted the penalty, leveling the score at 1–1.

In the 35th minute, the hosts took the lead. Adrian Kosyl sent the ball from midfield to the left flank, where it reached Marcin Kowalczyk. He carried it forward a few meters and crossed into the box, where our defenders failed to mark properly, leaving two opponents completely unguarded. One of them – Karol Krzyżanowski – headed the ball past Dominik Kowalski, who had no chance to make the save.

Sęp managed to equalize before halftime. In the 41st minute, Mikołaj Głodek sent in a corner kick perfectly towards Krystian Dadas, who met it with a header and placed the ball into the Watra net. The first half ended 2–2.

The second half began better for our team, who took control early on. In the 57th minute, Sęp launched a quick attack down the left wing. Maksymilian Dębowski passed the ball to Szymon Kryczka, who fired from the edge of the box. Stelmaszczyk saved, but Mikołaj Głodek pounced on the rebound and calmly slotted it home, giving us a 3–2 lead.

However, the joy didn’t last long. In the 63rd minute, the hosts counterattacked from their own half. Hubert Kornet played a long ball over our defense to Adrian Ryszkowicz. Bartłomiej Wdowiak tried to intercept the cross with his head but failed to connect properly, and the ball fell back to Ryszkowicz. He advanced into the box and sent a precise shot past the onrushing Dominik Kowalski, making it 3–3.

Later in the match, our team missed two excellent chances to secure the win. In the 81st minute, Mikołaj Głodek struck beautifully from distance, but Stelmaszczyk made a fine save. Moments later, Głodek found himself in the box again, surrounded by three defenders, and was brought down – yet the referee waved play on. Then, in the second minute of stoppage time, Szymon Kryczka had a golden opportunity from close range but couldn’t find the target.

After an exciting game full of twists, turns, and goals, Sęp Żelechów drew 3–3 with Watra Mrozy, splitting the points in Mrozy.
