3–1 Victory Over MKS Otwock in the 2025/26 2nd Mazovian Cadet League

Marcin Sągol

Our volleyball players can certainly be satisfied with how this weekend turned out. Yesterday, in the 2nd Mazovian Cadet League, they defeated Joker Kozienice 3–0, and today – despite a few early struggles in the first set – they claimed another victory, this time 3–1 against MKS Otwock. Once again, serving proved to be the key element to their success.

The first set of today’s match didn’t go well for our players. The team from Otwock quickly built a six-point lead, mainly thanks to strong serving that caused problems in our reception. With the score at 0–6, coach Łukasz Bogusz decided to call a timeout. Unfortunately, after the break, the visitors continued to dominate, extending their lead to 13–4 and later 18–9. At one point, Sęp improved their play and reduced the gap to five points (14–19). However, MKS kept control of the set and ultimately won it 25–19.

The second set was a completely different story. This time it was Sęp who started strong, quickly gaining a solid lead. Excellent serving from Olga Gendek gave us a 5–0 advantage. The Otwock coach called a timeout, but it didn’t help much – our team extended the lead to 7–1 and then 11–5. Midway through the set, the visitors narrowed the gap to three points (13–10), but that was only a brief moment of weaker play from Sęp. The Żelechów girls regained their rhythm, leading 17–13, and went on to win the set 25–16, leveling the match at 1–1.

The third set promised a close contest for the lead. Once again, solid serving from Olga Gendek helped Sęp take a 3–2 lead. After a short timeout from the opposing coach, our players increased their advantage to 6–4, then 9–5. Strong serving, which was missing in the first set, returned and allowed our team to control the match. A few well-placed plays from Amelia Kaczor and excellent teamwork helped Sęp steadily increase the lead (14–6, 19–9, 21–12) and finish the set 25–15.

The fourth, and as it turned out, final set was also dominated by coach Łukasz Bogusz’s team. The score quickly shifted from a narrow 2–1 lead to 9–4 and then 15–9. The entire team played confidently and effectively, allowing the coach to rotate the lineup and give more players a chance to perform. In the final moments, Basia Jurzysta impressed with a strong serve, and solid team play in reception and attack secured a 25–14 win – and a 3–1 victory in the match.

Congratulations to all the players and coach Łukasz Bogusz!
